Enchantment, is an invitation to rekindle a sense of awe and wonder, to add a little enchantment into the everyday. 

Craving a different path, Katherine May explores the restorative properties of the natural world – from a pebble in the hand to the humbling effects of the sea, the pleasure of the ground beneath her bare feet to the magic of a moon shadow which she unexpectedly encounters on a visit to experience Exmoor’s dark skies. 

Seven Fables first met Katherine in Whitstable at her launch for Wintering on a suitably cold, blustery February night. Since then, Wintering: The Power of Rest and Retreat in Difficult Times, has gone on to be an international bestseller, topping the New York Times, Sunday Times and Der Spiegel bestseller lists, and was adapted as BBC Radio 4’s Book of the Week

We are delighted that Katherine is returning to Seven Fables this June, and in keeping with the spirit of Enchantment, guests are invited to venture into the woods to hear her in conversation on one of the most enchanting evenings of the year, Midsummer, Saturday 24th June.

The walk departs from Seven Fables at 6pm, where we shall return by dusk at 9.30pm. Your ticket price includes a colourful vegetarian picnic supper supplied by The Exmoor Feasting Company, so please bring a bag suitable to carry this along with your belongings - it may also be a good idea to bring a blanket or cushion to sit on.

Copies of Enchantment are available to order from Seven Fables prior to the event, and there will be an opportunity to have your copy signed while in the woods, weather permitting.

*A level of walking fitness is required as it is a steady climb into the woods. We request that you dress accordingly, as we will still walk if there is a summer rain shower, walking boots are recommended.
